Interview Etiquettes

{[['']]}
Interview is a life changing process. Success in an interview and getting a subsequent job leads to self-confidence, changes in personality, and happiness in the family. When lot of good things are at stake it is but natural for the candidate to be a little nervous before the interviewer. Your interview etiquette will take you places. Let us look at few interview etiquettes.
Put a smile on your face and look energetic and enthusiastic. Enthusiasm is widely valued during an interview. The first 30 seconds of your interview or most button. You cannot replay or unwind the interview process. So, be on guard and also be confident.

You should maintain eye contact with the person conducting the interview. You should have an open posture and not fold your hands or cross your legs. You should be very careful with the dress you choose. Suppose a girl has not pinned her dupatta and it keeps falling of her shoulders many times, it does not look good at an interview. A formal dress without bright colours will be the right choice for interviews.

Body language is very important during interviews. Your feet must be touching the ground during an interview. You should not shake your legs. If you sit in a very relaxed posture your interviewer may think that you do not respect the interview process. Don't keep changing position in your chair or shake your hand.
You can shake your hands with your interviewer either at the start of the interview or end of the interview. An assertive handshake without putting too much pressure appears professional. You should not shake hands while your sitting. Shake hands only when you are standing.

If you can find the name of your interviewer, you can mention the name when you thank the person. But don't overuse the name of a person. Or you can tell the name at the start of the interview like, “A very Good morning Ms. Y. Very nice meeting you.”

Switch of your Blackberry or any other mobile phone you are carrying. It is not good to receive calls during an interview. You should also not keep looking for messages or stare at the mobile screen for some other info. Putting your mobile in silent mode will be the best. Some mobiles send out a beep sound whenever there is a message. So, silent mode will be the best.

If you are carrying a handbag or a resume holder, don't place it on the interview table. Keep it near your feet or on a adjacent chair next to you.
